ABOUT US

The Heritage Group of Schools are focused on deeper, authentic and inter-disciplinary learning. Our first school was set-up in 1999 as a not-for-profit private co-educational school. Our schools today are spread across 7 campuses with a community of over 7000 students and an enviable student to staff ratio of 9:1. Our Gurgaon campus has been ranked the number 1 day school in India for two consecutive years. Known for its progressive pedagogy and community bound curriculum, we are also one of the few inclusive schools in India with a well integrated special needs programme. Even though our schools offer 3 curriculums (National Board, IGCSE and International Baccalaureate), they attempt to be board agnostic through their own organically developed curriculum that stretches the boundaries of prescribed national and international curriculums. Housed in beautiful sprawling campuses, Heritage today is one of the reputed learning communities for educators. Read on to know more about us.

The Heritage TEACHER

Heritage’s vibrant work culture flows from an ethos of freedom, empowerment and continuous learning. Every teacher or staff at Heritage is empowered through progressive workshops, coaching, mentoring and study missions. The school’s professional development programmes provide our faculty with the tools to exhibit responsiveness and flexibility to a child’s world and changing needs.

The Heritage teacher is the spark that ignites the desire of ‘Learning to Learn’. Our teacher development strategy is underpinned by a continuous commitment to improvement. Promoted and participated in by the school’s leaders, the weekly training programme for all teachers is augmented by specialist national and international development opportunities for teachers. This training is complemented by supportive, shared and devolved leadership that shares in evaluating the effectiveness of student instruction through lesson observation, data collection and coaching support.

Great emphasis is placed on teacher collaboration in preparation, planning and delivery.

A hallmark of the schools is its strong leadership and management; the management team boasts of three alumni from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and one alumnus from the Harvard Business School as well as education professionals from across the globe. An in-house team of instructional coaches and curriculum designers work continuously with the teachers inside and outside the classroom to help them hone their practice towards realising their potential.

With access to some of the best resources and infrastructure in the country, the school constantly focuses on ensuring that the organisation remains responsive to the needs of each of its members; the school has an active staff welfare programme.

Heritage prides itself in working with an energetic and enthusiastic team of teachers, administrative and support staff who bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and skills to the table.

A GREAT
PLACE TO WORK

Many in our community have been with us since the time the first brick was laid. And over 60% of our recruitment is through internal referrals. This is a testimony to our endearing work culture and our sense of camaraderie. Many of our former Teachers have moved to be school leaders, researchers and workshop leaders. This is a testimony to our rigorous PD and learning opportunities. In the recent employee satisfaction survey organised by The Great Place to Work Institute, our school has been a certified “Great Place to Work®”. The following were our top three areas of strengths as against all India scores of top 50 organisations.

It is designed to offer support, guidance, and orientation for new members during the transition to Heritage and for some into their first teaching roles.

The programme is designed in a hybrid format, with asynchronous tasks as well as in-person interactive sessions.

KNOW MORE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION

About the Author

Mr. Manit Jain (Co-Founder, The Heritage Schools) has been a proponent of providing a more humane and meaningful educational experience to our children. He has led various initiatives in this direction including introduction of experiential learning in mainstream education in India. He also believes that only in an ecosystem where teachers feel motivated to learn continuously do students imbibe the value of being lifelong learners. He stays connected with experts and informed about developments that influence the education space as well as those that are shaping our world. This enables him to identify areas of development that not only help educators improve their practice but also evolve into more aware and empowered individuals. Regular workshops for educators facilitated by national and international experts and strong coaching and mentoring practices that have been set up at the Heritage group of schools, ensure that professional development never takes a back seat. Mr. Manit Jain is also the Co-Founder of I Am A Teacher (IAAT), a not-for-profit organization set up in 2014 with a purpose to build a relevant and rigorous practice-based model for teacher education in the country. The primary purpose of IAAT is to serve the education space by building a model of excellence in teacher education and it is now recognised and respected as an institution from which highly motivated, caring and committed educators graduate each year.

The courage to dream differently is the first step. To accept delayed gratification, face the challenges, plan and execute the dream is the next. And when both have been done successfully you simply want to share with everyone. May we present a quick video tour of our new HIXS junior school campus.

Presenting the cutting-edge approach to Social-Emotional Learning called ‘Me in Motion’. ‘Me in Motion’ is our unique approach to SEL that honours that the emotional, relational, and communal is also embodied in the physical.

We believe in empowering our students with the power of agentic action in the Makerspace. In order to question the boundary of what is possible in their young minds – we host ‘Make- Break- Learn’ sessions where our students take on the role of mentors and teach their parents how to navigate and create with emerging technologies.
